Another tip is to look at your email in the preview mode. That way you don't even have to open the email to see what is in it. Some emails that contain viruses and trojan's just have to be open for them to get to you. We use the free anti-virus AVG (free for home use) and they seem to catch everything if you keep it updated. I've used the free version for years with no problems.
