I'm by no means a pro...but I am pretty well versed in redoing things...lol
How was it originally quilted? Was it stitch in the ditch as well?
I have taken out all of the quilting on a quilt, pulled the layers apart, and gone from there. But it was a time consuming process, and not one I am sure I would do again.
I really don't see why it wouldn't work for you to just add new batting and backing and quilt it. I use Warm and Natural, maybe you could use a batting like that?
