I like the Wickedly Easy quilt, go to
www.byannie.com and click on "Free Patterns" and scroll down. I used it to teach three of my co-workers. It's a very forgiving pattern.

Also, Jenny Doan has a youtube totorial one on that you do with 10" squares, but I can't remember the name of it. Cut the squares into two 5" rectangles, then sew them back together, then turn them 1/4 turn and cut at 4", so you have a 4" and 6" rectangle, then sew them back together.
