I've used a lot of metallic thread in wearables. This is what I do. I sew on a Bernina Artista 180 and have found that I need to lower the upper tension WAY down and use the vertical thread stand in order to not have problems. That and the Metallic needles seem to work for me. I also agree. Practice, practice, practice. It's very different than other thread, but very doable.
