You need to clean and oil it carefully. Does it have a manual? If so, there will be directions. We like Tri-Flow oil from Sew-Classic.com., and their grease too. See how she sews and there may be small tension adjustments. It is a pretty machine and I would be proud to own it. Those machines need lubrication periodically and should preform well. I recommend starting with squares and then when you're comfortable with that, then half-square triangles. Hundreds of possibilities with those. You will develop skills. See you have a quilting guide, the long wire-looking thing. Get a good seam guide for 1/4 inch seams and you're quilt making. Good luck. We're always glad to help you.
