I would cut the QSnap to the size I wanted. If it works and suits you then you won. If it doesn't work it will be easy to buy the replacement pipe or go ahead and buy the Ulmer frame. At least you will know.
this was my thought about it, too. you have to be comfortable to enjoy the process of quilting
