I would not cut the existing PVC pipes...they are cheap enough to buy......so buy two others or have two others cut down. This way if it does not work, you can still sell the original package in tact! I have the Q snap and added lifters. If you have short arms and cannot reach, just move your chair to a different position so you can reach an area.
Oh, I forgot, you would have to cut down the floor support PVC pipes too, but still would be worth the try
