Coffee looses its flavour over time and gets stale. That happens MUCH faster with ground coffee. So to keep the flavour, buy freshly roasted whole beans (not some that have been on the shelf for already 6 months!), grind them yourselves in small portions. I'm never stocking more coffee at home than what I can drink in about a month.
