The animals aren't allowed on the furniture - I know the cats sit on the tops when we aren't around - so it isn't so much animal damage as spills from gs - milk, juice, regular accidents. Sheets would be much easier but thinner, and something quilted would give it a few more layers of protection. He's almost 4 now so that stage is over for the most part, but you do want what you're sitting on to be welcoming.
