Don't tell anybody, but if it's for myself I don't wash it right away even if it's a throw. Cat and dog hair make it so it'll get washed soon enough anyway; as long as it's not chunky or crunchy (which it usually isn't) I just snuggle under it for a few days before it gets its first wash. I'm lazy like that.
