That's exactly what I thought. Well, actually what I thought was, "What the @#$%& are they smoking at that shop?" There's only two reasons why they couldn't fix it. #1 - they don't make replacement motors or #2 - the shop doesn't know how to replace the motor. And neither of those make any sense.
Wait - there is another - #3 - they want to sell you a new machine.
Find another shop.
