[QUOTE=ArtsyOne;6866078]I watched Jenny Doan's video on this and it looked so easy! Boy, was I surprised. After making the first block and having to trim it waaaaay down to get it square, I pulled myself together and was extremely careful with my seams. That didn't help much - all of those diagonal edges, no matter how careful I was not to stretch them, made everything all wonky again.

I had the same problem and decided there must be an easier way and there is!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget the Hourglass... I used 5" charm squares and cut and sewed them using the sew and flip method on rectangles. I got perfect star points using all straight of grain (no bias) seams. It makes exactly the same star block and is really easy. The only tricky part is being sure you lay out the pieces in the right order before sewing them together. My blocks finished to 12 inches. If anybody is interested you can PM me and I will gladly share my pattern.
