What a great twist! Are you going to have the geese all point the same way? Are you going to cut out the bulk in the back or leave it?
Sadly I'm not clever enough to work out how to get them all the face the same way in a JRR quilt...if I was just joining strips and cutting them the required width and sewing them together, then I would, but I'd have no hair left trying to work out how to get them rotated all one way on a full quilt haha
