I wouldn't cut it either. Just wash it and fold it the best you can. You would have to iron it again when you go to use it anyway, so you may as well wait. (When the fabrics aren't ironed, I know that I've already washed them!) If you want a long piece border or something, it will still be in one piece. You can always cut it when you find what you will be using it for!
