I have used the dotty minky to back a few kids quilts, they have been washed & dried numerous times, still dotty. I don't knowledgeable about actually quilting around all those dots though.... That would not be an easy thing to do and would also really diminish the soft, minky characteristics. Generally you want kind of large, minimum quilting - just enough to hold the quilt together and satisfy the batting requirements if batting is used. You need to loosen the tension a tad and use a longer stitch length than normal when quilting minky
