I have a very similar machine. First get a new drive wheel, they can be had. Then if your machine is like mine the motor is attached with interlocking tabs on both the motor housing and pilar. To tighten the drive wheel against the hand wheel you can rotate the motor housing slightly so the drive wheel moves towards the curve of the hand wheel.
It is not easy to do this and you have to be careful not to bend or damage the housing.

Neither my FREE machine, nor any of the other friction drive machines I have, have yet to slip on any of my sewing.
