It's just a mash-up of sewing machine technology. A lot of treadle machines had motors added later on. Too bad it doesn't still have the spoked hand wheel. That they have the belt going around the bobbin winder pulley is pretty funny.
I have one of those electrified wonders. I just got done sewing a bag out of upholstery fabric for my DIL's birthday. The bag is mostly done or I would snap a picture. I will say it was noisy - mostly the toothy belt but the shuttle made a clatter, too. BUT that said. It went through that upholstery material like nobody's business. I thought I didn't like that machine. I am having to eat my words. For an old long bobbin machine it was not bad at all. I never even ran out of thread. The only thing that would have gone through better would be a walking foot. That machine just keeps going. The motor on it is a good one, too. I do need some ear plugs........
