Ah ha! I finally figured out how to upload pictures, now I can post!!
I posted a couple days ago after having difficulty getting my points to match and got some great advice. I used a lot of the ideas including the elmers glue, starch instead of sizing, and angling the pins. I finished the quilt top today and I'm so excited about it. My points aren't perfect, but they're much better than what I started out with and I'm satisfied with the end results.
We have very close family friends getting married soon and I knew I had to do something for them with this Tula Pink fabric when I saw it. I had just learned how to quilt and I decided I could tackle this. I was searching for the right quilt pattern and I had already bought the Hex N More so I decided on this pattern. Then I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the Jaybird site already made in this fabric line. It helped me visualize what I would end up with. This is my second quilt and overall I'm pleased with how well it went. My plan for quilting it is to get a walking foot and stick with lines. I used free motion quilting on my first quilt and it was too irregular to try on a gift.
I'm not sure my images are posting correctly, I'm on an ipad it looks funny, but in any case I'm also going to upload pictures of how I fixed my problem. I think my scant 1/4 inch was a little too scant and I wasn't left with enough fabric on the points of my big triangles. I realized that if I took my seams back out and made them bigger right in the point that I would get enough fabric for my seam allowance. I did that to a few of the triangles and when I went to sew my row together the first time I was so confident that everything was pinned and lined up correctly that I just went for it and it all came out great. I'm including a closeup of the points, they're still not perfect, but I'd rather have them like this than sucked into the seam. Also including a picture of how I angled my pins. If the person who recommended that to me happens to see this, did I do that correctly? It seemed to help in any case.
