I cut mine in 1 1/2, to 5. Or the largest size I can get out of the piece of scrap not exceeding 5 inches. I have found that If I run out of a certain size, I can cut up one size to get what i want, plus another size - ex - out of a 5 In square I can get 4 2 1/2 in it all depends on what I am making.
