Its got a narrow slot. My other one which is about as generic a machine as you can get has a wide/long slot but I don't see how a double needle could work. This other machine also has a 3 position needle locator.
I just thought of another use for double spool pins. Schmetz makes a double eye needle so you can sew with two threads at once.
