Are confident to go old school on the blocks? Cut your squares at 2-7/8''? Accuracy is a MUST using this method. And I got my 2-1/2'' square at Joann. But if no Joanne or Hancock, do you have a LQS nearby? They' most likely have one. My apologies to anyone who wanted to use this method and didn't have the 2-1/2" square.
If you make your own i would recommend tracing around with a pencil so you don't cut your template material, which would eventually make your blocks not square.
