My problem too. I've taken to using the little travel iron, but am so used to auto shut off that I find I've left it on for days!! It's a horrible thing to discovery when all the "could've happened" start running thru your mind.
I have a little travel iron I use for quilting now and I love it. very light and easy to use on a little ironing board i have set up on my sewing table.
