Unfortunately I think you used it incorrectly... Once it is pressed with an iron it is permanent, so you permanently fused it to the backing. That product is one that is *tacky* on both sides, so you can reposition it, move it around, then when you have it in the right place you press it creating a permanent bond. So, it will be very difficult or impossible to remove the backing now.
