Jean Wells was inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame in 2010. She opened The Stitchin' Post in Sisters, Oregon in 1975 and started The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show the same year. A noted quilter and teacher since the 70's, she began creating improv quilts in 2006 and teaching the techniques shortly thereafter. Her books Intuitive Color & Design and Journey to Inspired Quilting both teach the improv techniques as well. Improv quilting is growing rapidly thanks to the Modern Quilt Movement, and the fact that they both now have formal names.
