Although I suggested tea-staining, I think I would skip the staining and make it the medallion of a little girl quilt. Even if I hated it I am pretty sure nearly every little girl who came along would love it. You're talking about donating it anyway — just make it and give it on to someone else. Or maybe even better yet, give the panel to the Goodwill and get it out of your hair.
My first thought was tea-staining. Coffee works, too. That would tone down the colors and unify them.
But just because some don't like it the way it is, others will love it. So pick your favorite way to finish it or give it away.
