Not sure where my needlepoint Bargello books are but I always have known this pattern as the flame. Bargello needlepoint goes back to the Elizabethan period in England during the last half of the 1500s.
Thanks for the tidbit; I googled "flame bargello quilt" and was taken to some beauties. Here is a link to a quilt pattern for the flame and shown in several styles. Scroll to the quilt section and see the gold/yellow/black/white. There is a lot here if you keep scrolling, even a bargello youtube video. Patterns to be had as well. Have fun.
