the older hemmers were mostly bed mount, so you did use your regular foot with it.
With this style with the separate clamp, I would figure it could be mounted on a wide range of machines as you can rotate both the hemmer and the clamp to get it lined up correctly.
At least on this board - no one is going to say "wow! it's 40 years old!"
