Many years ago -- and before I knew how I was "supposed to" be making a quilt -- I used alternating squares of corduroy and denim to make a quilt for my father-in-law. It had to be heavy so it wouldn't slip off his hospital bed, and it had to be warm. I sewed the squares together in rows with my serger, found a by-the-yard THICK batting, and backed the whole thing with a sheet. I folded the edges of the sheet over to make my binding, which was entirely sewn on the machine. He liked the texture and the weight. The whole thing was tied with yarn at every block intersection and in the middle of each block. That was many years ago. I have no idea of what happened to the quilt, but it survived lots of washings and still served its purpose.

I don't know that I would tackle a quilt with corduroy "now that I know what I'm doing," but it sure worked out back then!! Ha! Ha!
