McCall's Quilting Mag, Nov/Dec 2014 (just came out) has a pattern called Bursting Star that would work. All you have to do is change the edge for an octagon instead of square, and make a hole for the middle. You can go on their website to see the quilt. Finished is 42.5 sq.
