They look to be heavy duty so maybe they are old? The newer ones are less expensive, but also much lighter made. I've never heard of MGS so kind of think they were bought out and replaced. You may have an "antique" with those nippers. I, personally, have three pair of the lighter ones. I use them all the time and have never had to replace any. Mine are made by "Clover". I think I bought them at Joann's years ago.
