Ahh, but I've been doing this for a while, Lisa! :-) I buy books cheaply online; I used to belong to a Keepsake Quilting FQ club, so a lot came from there; and I buy fabric from wherever I can find it on sale. I also inherited a bunch of stuff (notions/fabric/etc) when my mom passed away.
And don't forget that it's quilting stuff AND knitting stuff (although now that I think of it, I do have a big bin of yarn under the table in our office!).
Give it time, you'll soon have a good collection, too! :lol:
