I had a thought. It's sort of a compilation of what everyone is suggesting. Since I created this pattern, I can change it at will. I'm thinking of using my rotary cutter and simply cutting off the 1/4" seam between my blocks and the sashing (on my picture that would be top to bottom). Then I'll re-sew the seams and really off set my rows so it looks much more deliberate. In the end my sashing will be reduced by 1/2" but who cares? Maybe that's how it really wanted it? No one but you guys will ever know!

I can add a new beige border top and bottom then continue with the dark blue one as planned. (Did I explain this well?)

I want to try and salvage this and maybe even still give it as a Christmas gift because I also love the colors and chose them specifically for this person.
