I come up with the idea, sit at my computer and work out the design, print it out, them go to my stash and find the fabrics and package them in large zip lock bags ready to go. Also, I tried a pattern two years ago, out of a mag, and the dimensions were all wrong. I had to totally re-design because it was off by a quarter inch one way and a half inch the other. I always do one block in junk cloth to prove out the pattern. It really pays!
