But like you said you don't HAVE to put them in envelopes unless there
is decorations that can/will be knocked off or damaged by the postal
machines.

Just chiming in with a different opinion I like the postcards however they appear the wear and tear of travel does not bother me. I belong to Postcrossing a postcard exchange site with people all over the world (purchased cards 99%of those in this swap prefer not to get homemade cards) anyway I love all the cards I receive but something about the well traveled ones just seems to tell that much more of the story. And I like having the postmark and stamp on the actual card.

However a card is sent to me I will be delighted to receive it.
