Great base! It elevates the machine from merely functional to art. Did you or someone you know make it?
I still haven't tried a hand crank but I do enjoy treadling. I have turned the wheel by hand on small fiddly things that require a lot of control, I think a hand crank machine would be great for that kind of work.
