My embroidery machine refused to stop sewing when I lifted my foot off the pedal - thought it was a fault with the pedal or cord connection. Someone suggested it may be a fuse in the power box on the house - figure that one out? But sure thing, a couple of days later a fuse blew and had to be replaced, and no more problems with the machine. Hope your problem is as small, so good luck.
