Wow, great score Cathy! Love those 12x1 needle packs too. ISMACS data suggests 1868 would be about right (they start at 1871 and your serial number is a few years earlier). The decals were hand painted, so you'd be well justified in hand painting them back on, if you can find a similar design for the colours.
