Love the Black and White value photo shot. Too early to give up on the block/pattern just yet. Looking at the B&W pic now assign your fabrics Value names: Dark (I only see one true dark), Medium-Dark, Medium, Light (I see two true lights). Looking at the Friendship Garden picture you attached now place your "Value named" fabrics in similar positions on the block and let's see the new results. It really looks like the ratios of 60% Mediums, 30% Lights, and 10% Darks will work here.
