Wow! Both Glorias are glorious! The different languages on the knobs are so great.
KenmoreRulesAll (love this name!), just a thought...when I have something really fragile to scan, I sometimes just photograph the pages instead. If you have bright light and are careful about the parallax (I include a little background so I can see that it's even on all sides, then crop it out), photos can have fine enough detail to use.
