We visited there this fall. They have docents dressed in costume in the various homes/shops/bldgs and they all love the history and their jobs. My favorite was the wig shop and the dressmaker's shop. So interesting. We purchased a three-day entry ticket from AAA ahead of time, but don't bother. When you get to the visitor center at Historic Williamsburg you will find they have specials which include Yorktown and Jamestown. Like most places, you can spend conservatively or not-so-much. We ate at three of the taverns in HW and the food was very good. Christianna Campbells was delicious and worth the price for the experience. Reservations are encouraged for evening meals--lunch we just put our name in at the door, short wait time. Not all the buildings are open every day, so tour them in the order that seems right to you. The riverfront at Yorktown has been redone--had a great lunch at one of the restaurants there after touring the historic part. Enjoy!
