I guess I'm lazy. I prefer to machine sew to the back, then machine sew the front. I have gotten pretty good so that they look nice - an even 1/16" from the edge all around. (Carpal tunnel may have contributed to this.) Takes me about 2 hours start to finish. (after the binding is made).
