I am a middle school teacher and I totally agree with you!
My husband has been asking and asking me to hire someone to clean the house. (If you see my pictures of my sewing room... you'll understand why!) I keep up with the general cleaning, but it leaves me very little time to do anything else in the house. In the past, I wanted to hire a cleaning lady, but I think our biggest concern was having a stranger in our home. However, I met another mom at my son's school that has a cleaning business. Since both our kids go to a private Christian school, I feel I can trust her.
I think if you have a teacher friend and they can vouch for you, this is definitely an avenue to pursue.
