I have the cutter which stays in the off position until you press the handle. Did you manage to cut yourself because you left it face-up so that one scary side of the blade was exposed?
I am careful about pressing the red button to get it locked, so if I drop it it won't open on me, but I never thought about putting it so the blade side is down.
I am so so sorry you were injured and I hope the bandaid does the trick. Part of the pain is wanting to kick yourself, right?
That's how I feel when I do something dumb like stab myself with a pin or get a finger in the way of the iron...
