Default Finally Finished. Interesting history of the fabric.

My SIL gave me lots of batting and muslin, plus some fabrics that had belonged to her mother. This included a large number of dresden plate pieces cut out and a few put together. This must have been a project started very late in her mother's life as they were poorly cut and poorly pieced. Her mother did excellent work. I decided I would finish them and return them to my SIL as a surprise. Well almost 2.5 years later, I have it done. It was not my full time project.

I wanted to use the muslin too since she gave me so much. The blocks on the front are all from the same weight/color of muslin. The backs are not all consistent. The coolest surprise though was when I found that the evenly sized/shaped pieces were from old sugar bags. I found printing on one of them showing the sugar came from Havana, Cuba! Now how old do you suppose those would be? Must have been late 50's or very early 60's. I kept the section showing the product, company name, and location intact and used in in the backing. All of the back blocks were from the sugar bag fabric.

I tried to enchance the photo of the back to show the printing.

I plan to take it down to Fla mid-Dec and give it to her. She is going to be surprised and I think pleased with what I've done.
