I've been doing that once for years on fabric.. sails and chutes 2 x's. Then fold and top stitch = 3 x's upholstery (auto) once .
Then a years years ago a friend, who had worked for levis said to do every thing twice . most the quilting I've done in the last few yrs has been a heavier fabric, so twice on that.
this week I doing a light cotton, was doing twice, untill a seam ripped out in a mid run, because of there being so many holes in such a close area, Errrrrrrrrr
so I'm back to once but when I fold over and iron in spot I see the thread
