You can also hit the thrift store and find something you don't feel bad about cutting up.

The posts got splintered when a mod moved it to the tutorials section, so it's in 2 parts. A lot of computer desks would work this way, or I've seen people do the same with Dining tables. I've made the Height Adjustable desk 2.0 and it's using all Ikea components, but a little less adjustable, because I was bumping my knees on the adjusters. I also built it at standing height, so it's the same height as my cutting table and the LA, so my chair doesn't need adjusting when I scoot around the room.
