Since you don't have anyone to help you, I would suggest buying a new tension. There is a set screw somewhere back there holding it on. Take out the set screw. Pull the old one out and put a new one on it then replace the set screw.
The set screw will be somewhere inside the nose - it is a little screw that holds the tension on the machine.
