I just used flannel and minky to make a blankie for my GGD. Came out nice but make sure to pin all way round. It turned nicely and I stitched two rounds around. This is now GGD's favorite blankie for her bed. I think it's the Minky that they like. My sister just finished a flannel blanket for her GS and used fleece for the batting. Came out really nice.
