Most screens are like that unless you have a high dollar machine. My MC350e is a little better but still not a color screen.
Here's another tip about the Brother PE770 and the Designio 820: They are exactly the same machine. The 820 is dressed up a bit but that's not why it costs more. The accessories it comes with that the 770 doesn't have make it worth the higher price. More hoops, thread, 3 or 4 different stabilizers, that stuff all adds up. The hoops alone cost more than the price difference between the two machines.
