I use the Quilter's Dream batting. It is 100% cotton with no scrim.

I'm not suggesting you buy it from Amazon, buy you can roll over the picture and see that it says 100% cotton and no scrim.
I have always told those I gifted the microwave bowl holders not to heat it for more than 4 minutes on high power.
